LarpLess Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 November 2026
These terms cover using LarpLess, the study tracker for Mac and Windows, and its Friends service. LarpLess is run by Mustafa Alper Ergüne ("I", "me"). You can reach me at privacy@ergune.dev.
The short version
- LarpLess is free, open-source software. These terms don't take away anything its licence gives you.
- It's in early testing. Expect bugs and changes, and possibly a reset of Friends data.
- Use it to track your own studying, never to watch someone else.
- To use Friends, you must be 16 or older, treat other people decently, and leave the server's security alone.
- LarpLess comes without warranties, as far as the law allows.
1. The app and its licence
LarpLess is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0). The licence decides how you may use, copy, change and share the code, and nothing in these terms limits the rights it gives you. These terms add rules only for the Friends service I run, and explain how I provide LarpLess.
2. Early testing
LarpLess is in early testing. Features may change, break or disappear without notice, and a session can be labelled wrongly or lost. On the Friends service I may have to reset data; I'll try to warn you first. If I stop running the Friends service, I'll announce it on the project's GitHub page at least 30 days ahead where I can, and then delete its data.
3. Using LarpLess
- The labels are estimates. Focus scores and subject labels come from AI models and rules running on your computer, and they can be wrong. Don't rely on them for anything important, such as decisions about grades, discipline, work or health.
- Track only yourself. Use LarpLess only to track your own studying, on a computer you're allowed to use. Don't use it to watch another person's screen or camera, such as a child's, a student's or an employee's.
- Permissions are your choice. LarpLess asks for Screen Recording, Camera and Notifications. It works without the camera, and you can withdraw any permission in your system settings.
- Other software has its own terms. Ollama, and the AI models LarpLess uses or downloads, are separate projects under their own licences and terms. They're listed in Settings → About → Acknowledgements.
4. Friends accounts
- You must be 16 or older to create an account.
- An account is for one person. Don't share it, and don't create accounts for other people.
- Your username must not impersonate anyone, or be offensive, hateful, sexual or misleading.
- Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so tell me if you think someone else has used it.
- Accounts have no real email address, so LarpLess can't send a password reset. If you lose your password, I may not be able to give you the account back.
5. Rules for Friends
Don't:
- harass, threaten, bully or impersonate anyone;
- put hateful, sexual, violent or illegal content in your username or captions;
- send spam, advertising or friend requests in bulk, or create accounts automatically;
- collect data about other users, or access or try to access anyone else's account or data;
- try to get around the server's security, or overload or disrupt it;
- use Friends for anything illegal.
To keep spam out, Friends limits how many friend requests, username lookups and posts an account can make in an hour and in a day, and how many accounts can be created in an hour.
If you find a security problem, report it to privacy@ergune.dev and don't access other people's data. I welcome reports made in good faith.
6. What you post
You keep all rights to what you post: your captions and your session stats. You give me permission to store them and show them to you and your friends, only to run the Friends service. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the short-lived logs described in the Privacy Policy. Only post what you have the right to post.
7. Removing content and accounts
I may remove content, or suspend or delete an account, if it breaks these terms or the law, or puts other users or the service at risk. If you think I got it wrong, email me.
You can stop at any time: turn Friends off in Settings → Friends, or delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete account.
8. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what LarpLess handles and what the Friends server stores. In short: screenshots and webcam images never leave your computer, and Friends stores only your account, your friendships and the stats you choose to post.
9. Price
LarpLess and Friends are free. If I add paid features later, they'll be optional, they'll come with their own terms, and you'll never be charged without agreeing to it first.
10. The LarpLess name
The open-source licence covers the code, not the LarpLess name. Please don't present a modified version or another service as the official LarpLess, or as run by me.
11. No warranty
As far as the law allows, LarpLess and the Friends service are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including that they are accurate, available, secure or fit for a particular purpose. The disclaimer in sections 15 and 16 of the AGPL also applies to the software.
12. Liability
As far as the law allows, I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, lost study time or effects on your grades.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited. Nothing in them affects your rights as a consumer.
13. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. I'll change the date at the top, and every earlier version stays in the project's Git history. I'll announce significant changes on the project's GitHub page before they take effect. If you keep using Friends after that, you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, stop using Friends and delete your account.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, and disputes go to the competent courts of Turkey. If you use LarpLess as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts. Before going to court, please email me so we can try to sort it out.
If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
